About Sims Machining

Sims Machining was originally founded in 1979 by Lynn Sims. He started the company with three Brown & Sharpe screw machines, two tool & die makers, and one screw machine set-up technician. At the time Sims was strictly a production machining operation  and was being contracted by the likes of Rockwell International & Westinghouse Corporation, to name a few.

By 1991 Sims Machining had grown. We were now using 19 single spindle and 4 six spindle screw machines. We were also being recognized  by companies like E.S.A.B., A.B.B., Square D and Champion Spark Plug. It was also becoming more evident, at this time, that technology was beginning to out pace the older more conventional equipment currently in use by Sims Machining Company. A decision had to be made.

Lynn, with four sons having been raised and taught machining, decided it was time to recruit the family and to upgrade his existing equipment to Computer Numeric Control or what is known in the trade as C.N.C. This decision has since proven itself to be profitable as well as extremely reliable.

Sims currently employs 17 people which includes a complete staff fully trained in C.N.C. programming, set-up & automatic screw machine operation. Sims Machining is also I.S.O. 9000 equivalent and therefore maintains full time quality control personnel to inspect the products Sims manufactures out of stainless steel, aluminum, copper, brass, bronze, plastic & nylon. Presently Sims is machining approximately 200 tons of copper and nearly 150 tons of stainless steel per year.
